Pokemon Health

What if Pokemon got into healthcare?

Pokemon already speaks the language of care. Taking care of a companion that grows with you is structurally the same thing as taking care of your health. Except one is fun, and the other isn't.

Concept: a companion Pokemon that appears on your smartwatch and evolves with your health behaviors.
What if your smartwatch projected your Pokemon?

Why

Health apps fail because they treat humans like machines. Count your steps. Optimize your stats. Repeat. The engagement curve is always the same: a spike, a plateau, a cliff.

Pokemon works differently. The loop is not optimize yourself, it's take care of something alive. The companion grows because you walk with it, because you look after it. The relationship IS the mechanic.

I developed this intuition in a full article: Pokemon Health, what if Pokemon got into healthcare?

The ideas taking shape

The project explores several layers. Two of them are enough to validate the concept:

  1. Your body, your Pokemon. A connected wearable generates a unique Pokemon that evolves with your real-world health behaviors. Sleep, activity, heart rate. Not a generic avatar. A companion born from your data.
  2. Food as adventure. Every real food becomes a Pokedex entry. Balanced meals unlock combos. Nutrition as a collection game, not calorie accounting.

Other layers follow (mental health, pediatrics, clinical research, Pokemon Centers as local hospitals), but the first two are enough to start.

Where it stands

  • Intellectual maturation phase. No prototype yet. A sharpening vision, a pile of studies, the conviction that thinking well matters before coding.
  • Real games, not serious games. That's the constraint I set from the start.
  • Build in public on LinkedIn and X.
