The session, step by step

Put yourself in the patient's place: a radiation therapy session in a room modelled in 3D, from arrival to exit, in about two minutes, to follow from the outside or through their eyes.

The patient walks in with two radiographers, climbs onto the couch and lies down. The team sets up the immobilisation, the couch moves under the accelerator and the lasers line up with the marks. The team leaves the room, an image checks the position, then the treatment is delivered in an arc around the patient. The couch comes down, the team returns, the patient gets up and leaves.

Two versions can be chosen at the top of the welcome card. The adult version tells the session to the patient. The child version shows a child walking in with the radiographers and Miroki, a mirokaï robot designed by Enchanted Tools, which stays close to the child when the team leaves the room. Miroki accompanies children in radiation therapy at the Institut du Cancer de Montpellier; its value for them is being evaluated.

Pause the session to look around and tap the information points, go back to a step, or see through the patient’s eyes. The “Patient | Équipe” switch at the top opens every control of the machine, mainly intended for care teams to train.

NB: the treatment beam cannot be seen in reality; it is modelled here for educational purposes only.

Educational model. The texts of the session (in French) are being reviewed by the care team: they do not replace the explanations of your own team, and the organisation of a session varies from one centre to another. The room and the accelerator are a simplified interpretation, and the beam shown has no dosimetric value.
